Bill Wilson brings the educator’s perspective, public-service experience, and community leadership needed to help the Foothill-DeAnza Community College District meet today’s challenges and prepare students for tomorrow’s opportunities. As a trustee for the Fremont Union High School District, he helped steer the district to sustained excellence. His work as a math instructor at DeAnza College has given him a front-row seat to the challenges today's college students face. He continues his commitment to our community colleges through his service on the Foothill-DeAnza Foundation.
Bill's Priorities as Trustee
Our community colleges are uniquely positioned to deal with some of the challenges facing higher education. They offer an affordable alternative to typical four-year institutions, and they offer programs targeted at preparing students for high demand jobs.
As a trustee Bill will work to:
- Encourage coordination with local businesses to make sure our students are being prepared to be the successful employees they need.
- Ensure the district’s finances are strong and reflect the priorities of the district.
- Work in coordination with community organizations to support student well-being beyond the classroom.
- Provide faculty and staff the resources they need to address the affordability crisis in our high-cost area.
- Increase opportunities for lifelong learning experiences for community members.

Why I'm running
Our local community colleges must keep giving students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. As a mathematics instructor at De Anza College, I see firsthand the motivated, resilient students and dedicated faculty and staff who make this college special. And as a trustee on the Fremont Union High School District, I've seen how Foothill and De Anza serve as a launching point for so many local students beginning their college journey. My priorities as trustee will build on that foundation — for our students' success, and for our community's success. I invite you to join me in this effort.
